Alaska’s Five Fingers Lighthouse is owned and managed by the Juneau Lighthouse Association. The Juneau Lighthouse Association restores and preserves the lighthouses off its coast. The Five Fingers Lighthouse was restored with funds from an act that was passed by President Roosevelt during the Depression.
Alaska’s Five Finger Lighthouse was built in 1935 after the first lighthouse that was built there burned down. It was built in Art Deco style and was made durable to withstand the harsh weather that Alaska must endure. The Five Finger Lighthouse was the last to be manned in its area. It still operates today but with the use of solar panels. Alaska Five Finger Lighthouse is now on its way to becoming a greater landmark with Alaska trying to help make the area more appealing to tourists, as well as a marine site. This beautiful lighthouse will continue to provide beauty to the area as well as a great history behind the area and the lighthouse.
