This lighthouse is also referred to as Port Isabel Lighthouse because of the fact that it is situated in Port Isabel, a small coastal community in southern Texas. This lighthouse was constructed in the year 1852 on a grassy bluff. It overlooks the Laguna Madre and the view from the top of the lighthouse is simply captivating and beautiful. The grass bluff on which the lighthouse sits is about twenty five feet in height while the height of the lighthouse is close to fifty seven feet. Thus, all in all, the structure has a combined height of eighty feet. The Texas Point Isabel Lighthouse had always faced several problems during its active period. It was activated, deactivated and reactivated a lot of times, especially during the time during the Civil War.
The lighthouse is situated at a convenient location which makes it easily accessible for a lot of visitors. It can be found just off Highway 100, so be sure to pay it a visit when you are heading towards that direction or to the Queen Isabella Causeway. Even if you are unfamiliar with South Texas, you will not find it a problem to reach the lighthouse. Tourists visiting the Point Isabel Lighthouse also make a stopover at the Treasures of the Gulf Museum that is located just across the highway.

When you are visiting the lighthouse you can also have a picnic because the grassy knoll is complete with picnic tables. You can unwind or have a stroll on the grassy knoll. A lot of couples visit the lighthouse and climb the winding stairs in order to exchange their wedding vows at the top of the tower.
